A Message From Melissa
“We need to quickly restore Miami Beach into a safe environment where people aspire to live and visit. We choose to live here because of its natural habitat, diverse and welcoming culture, a prosperous economy driven by an entrepreneurial spirit. Miami Beach should be a destination that evokes wellness, culture, sensuality, and a vibrant lifestyle. We should not be in the news for ongoing out-of-control behavior and violent crimes.”
MAIN ISSUES
Melissa Beattie’s Vision for a Better Miami Beach
Prioritizing Residents’ QUALITY OF LIFE
Our quality-of-life is a non-negotiable fundamental for our City to thrive and flourish. Its priorities should reflect our residents values, including safety, dependable services, maintenance of utilities, congestion management, enjoyment of our natural environment, participation in activities and events, instead of as events that drive many residents out of the City.
Commitment to SAFETY for All
Public safety is a core function of good government. The Entertainment District’s troubles require coordinating immediate action to tackle the root of the problem, so long-term strategies solve the issues and ensure a safe environment for our residents, workers, visitors and police force.
INFRASTRUCTURE and RESILIENCY
In facing the challenges of sea-level rise, Miami Beach needs to continue preparation and infrastructural updating while closely collaborating with residents and business owners to address their concerns. Infrastructure projects need to be harmonious with our neighborhoods and encompass plans that seek to minimize disruptions.
Protect Our ENVIRONMENT
The fate of the City and our natural habitat are inextricably connected. We need to be proactive stewards of our environmental planning while building a more sustainable future.
